10 Players With A Big Season Ahead

The new Premier League season kicks off this weekend and there will be a number of players looking to prove a point.

Let's see which 10 players I think will have a big season ahead of them.

COLE PALMER - CHELSEA

Palmer has a somewhat disappointing season last season considering the heights he's hit in recent seasons with injuries arguably being the main reason why. He'll come into this season off the back of having a full pre season under his belt to build up his fitness which is what he didn't have last season due to Chelsea being at the Club World Cup. Because of this he'll be looking to rediscover the form he showed during his first 18 months with the blues.

YOANE WISSA - NEWCASTLE

Wissa had a disappointing debut season at Newcastle last season as he found the net just once in 19 Premier League games with a lack of pre season arguably being the main reason. But he did impress at the World Cup for DR Congo during the summer and Newcastle will be hoping that he can carry that form with him into the new season.

ALEXANDER ISAK - LIVERPOOL

Isak had a massively disappointing season debut season at Liverpool last season and it was simply because he wasn't fit. He'll have a full pre season under his belt heading into this season which is what he didn't have last season after he went on strike at Newcastle and because of this, he'll hopefully show that the reds spent all that money on him last summer. He has to deliver this season and especially with Hugo Ekitike set to miss most of the season with an Achilles injury.

OLI MCBURNIE - HULL

McBurnie scored 18 times in the Championship last season as Hull got promoted including the winner in the play off final against Middlesbrough. But he's yet to prove himself in the Premier League after scoring just 13 times across two spells with Sheffield United. His numbers from last season will give him confidence heading into this season and if Hull are to stay up, they'll need him to step up and deliver the form he showed in the Championship last season.

FLORIAN WIRTZ - LIVERPOOL

Wirtz had a tough debut season at Liverpool last season but he did at times show glimpses of his ablities. He should fare better this season as he should now know about the physicality and pace of the Premier League and will also know who his teammates are after a year of adjusting. He's been in good form during pre season and the reds will be hoping that he can carry that form int o the new season.

HARVEY BARNES - NEWCASTLE

Newcastle have already lost three of their most important players this summer in Sandro Tonali, Anthony Gordon and Bruno Guimaraes and because of this, they need someone to step up and take over and Barnes could be that player. He hasn't been able to nail down a regular starting role since he;s been at the club but he has impressed when give an opportunity and with Gordon now gone, he now has the chance to become an important player for the Magpies.

BRANDON THOMAS-ASANTE - COVENTRY

Thomas-Asante was one of Coventry's main attacking outlets during their promotion campaign last season as he scored 13 times to help them win the Championship. He showed that he was Premier League ready with the numbers he produced last season alongside his performances and if he can make the step up, Coventry have a good chance of staying up.

JAMES MADDISON - TOTTENHAM

Maddison spent almost the entirety of last season out injured and Spurs suffered as a result as they missed his creativity. He's had a full pre season to build up his fitness ahead of the new season and if he can start the season strongly, he'll hopefully give Spurs the creativity they lacked last season and return to the form he was in when he first arrived at the club three summers ago.

PHIL FODEN - MAN CITY

Foden has had back-to-back disappointing seasons since winning the Player of the Season award in 2023/24 and last season he found himself on the bench during the latter stages. He signed a new contract during the summer which must mean that he's ready to return to his best form and after having a full pre season under his belt due to him not going to the World Cup, he'll hopefully return to the form he showed during the season he won player of the year.

ANDREY SANTOS - MAN UNITED

Santos didn't get the game time he wanted at Chelsea and he'll be hoping that his move to Man United will be the one that can kickstart his career. United have been crying out for a quality defensive midfielder since their manager Michael Carrick hung up his boots and if Santos can make the most of the opportunities he gets, United may finally have the player they've been crying out for.
