At the end of each calendar year, I pick the best Premier League player from each club based on how well they've performed across the entire year. I've done it again this year and it's about time I show you.
ARSENAL - BUKAYO SAKA
Saka has carried Arsenal for pretty much the entire year and he's only 21 years of age. He's stepped up as their main man on several occasions with the amount of goals he's scored and has firm;y put that penalty miss at the Euro's in 2021 behind him.
ASTON VILLA - MATTY CASH
Cash has been Villa's most consistent performer in 2022 in what has been a tough year for the club. He was their player of the year last season and has put in some solid performances at right back this season despite his sides' dodgy form.
BOURNEMOUTH - PHILIP BILLING
Billing scored a number of important goals for the Cherries during the promotion campaign at the back end of last season and has carried on doing that in the Premier League this season. Hr brings a lot of energy to the midfield and when his team are struggling for goals, he's stepped up with one all year round.
BRENTFORD - IVAN TONEY
Another incredible year for the Bees striker. Toney ended last season in great form as Brentford kept themselves a good distance away from the relegation zone and finished 13th. He's carried that end of season form into this one by netting 12 goals in the first half of this season. He's continued to show how important he is to Brentford and his early season performance were awarded with an England call up in September.
BRIGHTON - LEANDRO TROSSARD
Trossard has been in great goal scoring form all year round for Brighton with 4 in the second half of last season and 7 in the first half of this season. He's stepped up as their main goal threat whilst his teammates have struggled in front of goal and his good performances this year earned him a call up to the Belgium squad.
CHELSEA - REECE JAMES
Mason Mount has struggled to find his best form over the last few months so I've decided to pick Reece James. He might've labelled 2022 as his toughest year to date with the recent injuries he's had but James for me has been Chelsea's most consistent performer all year. He offered that extra bit of quality in attack when he's got forward and the blues are arguably a better side when he's available.
CRYSTAL PALACE - WILFRIED ZAHA
Palace might not be as over reliant on him as they were before, but Zaha has still shown how important he is to them with what he offers in the final third. He had his best goal scoring season to date last season where he ended the season in great form and has carroed that form into this season. The Eagles will be determined to tie him down to a new contract with his current deal up in the summer.
EVERTON - JORDAN PICKFORD
2022 has been a tough year for Everton but Pickford has still stepped up when his team have needed him to. He's looked solid between the sticks all year round by making many crucial saves to keep his side in games and without him, the Toffees might be in the Championship.
FULHAM - ALEKSANDAR MITROVIC
What an incredible year this man has had. After a record breaking season in the Championship last season, Mitrovic has carried that form with him into the Premier League by already scoring 10 goals. He's silenced his pre-season doubters after tough Premier League seasons in the past and Fulham would not be where they are without him.
LEEDS - RODRIGO
2022 has been a tough year for Leeds but Rodrigo still stepped up when they needed someone to. He scored some crucial for them at the back end of last season as they avoided relegation on the last day and has started this season in good form too with 9 goals scored so far. He's been their best player so far this season and has stepped up as their main goal threat in the absence of Patrick Bamford.
LEICESTER - JAMES MADDISON
Maddison has been the Foxes' most consistent performer this year in what has been an up and down year for them. He's developed his game further by adding more goals and assists and has become Leicester's go to man by stepping up as that player. He'll now be looking to get more England caps under his belt.
LIVERPOOL - ALISSON
2022 has been a year of two halves for Liverpool and if I had to pick one standout performer across the entire year it would be Alisson. He shared the golden glove with Ederson last season as Liverpool narrowly missed out on another Premier League title. Even when the reds' have been struggling this season, he's kept them in games on several occasions by making many crucial and top quality saves.
MAN CITY - KEVIN DE BRUYNE
Erling Haaland has bagged the majority of the goals for City this season but over the course of the whole year, De Bruyne has been their standout performer. He ended last season as their top goal scorer in the league thanks to the amount of goals he scored in the latter stages and is currently the top assist provider this season. He's once again shown why he's one of the best players in the world with his ability to run a game from midfield.
MAN UNITED - DAVID DE GEA
De Gea has been United's most consistent player in what has been an up and down 2022. He's made countless top saves to keep his side in games and he's had to due to amount of times he's been called upon throughout the year both last season and at times this season. Without him United might not be where they are.
NEWCASTLE - BRUNO GUIMARAES
Newcastle have been completely transformed this season and Guimaraes has been a huge part of it. He's brought a lot of quality to the midfield since his arrival in January and the calibre of player he is has brough the best out of those around him. He's been a screen in front of the Magpies defence with his ability to read the game and has also dictated play in midfield with his vision to pick out any kind of pass.
NOTTINGHAM FOREST - RYAN YATES
Yates has arguably been one of Forest's better performers this season and has in my eyes been their standout performer across the entire year. He was a key player for Steve Cooper's side in the lead up to their promotion from the Championship and has put in a good shift in the midfield this season when Forest have needed someone to.
SOUTHAMPTON - JAMES WARD PROWSE
He might not be having his best season at the moment but throughout the whole of 2022 Ward Prowse carried Southampton pretty much on his own. His set pieces have been a danger for any opposing defence and goalkeeper and has been creating chances for his team from open play. The Saints might not even be in the Premier League without him.
TOTTENHAM - HARRY KANE
Kane has been in excellent form all year round for Spurs with his goals and assists playing a key role in Spurs finishing in the top four last season and putting themselves in contention to do the same again this season. He's put his sole focus on Spurs after a poor end to 2021 and stepped up when his mate Son wasn't performing.
WEST HAM - JARROD BOWEN
Declan Rice has had another decent year for the Hammers but Bowen for me was their most consistent performer. He was their player of the season last season with his run of goals and performances towards the end earning him an England call up. The Hammers have been struggling this season but Bowen has still been their main attacking threat.
WOLVES - RUBEN NEVES
2022 has been a pretty tough year for Wolves but Neves has still stepped up as their main man when they've needed him to. He's worked his socks off in midfield with the endless energy he has and has popped up with the odd crucial goal when the team have needed one. No wonder some of the big clubs have been linked with him.
