At the end of each calendar year, I pick the best Premier League player from each club based on how well they've performed across the entire year. I've done it again this year and it's now time that I show you.
ARSENAL - MARTIN ODEGAARD
Bukayo Saka has had another brilliant year for the Gunners, but for me Odegaard has been their standout. He's been the difference for them this year by running games from midfield with his creativity and leadership on the pitch. He's taken Arsenal onto another level.
ASTON VILLA - OLLIE WATKINS
Watkins stepped up as Villa's main man this season and the departure of Danny Ings no doubt played a part. It gave him the chance to be Villa's main striker and he has grabbed that chance with both hands by scoring the amount of goals he has scored. His form this season earned him a recall to the England squad and he is currently in pole position to be Harry Kane's back up for the Euros.
BOURNEMOUTH - MARCUS TAVERNIER
Tavernier has arguably been Bournemouth's most consistent player throughout 2023 as he's netted many crucial goals and put in a real shift in the midfield. He scored some key goals for them last season as the Cherries stayed up and has carried that form into this season under new boss Andoni Iraola.
BRENTFORD - ETHAN PINNOCK
Pinnock has been solid at the back all year round for the Bees as they became an established Premier League side. He's played every minute of every game in 2023 and is one of the main reasons why Brentford are a strong team defensively.
BRIGHTON - KAORU MITOMA
Mitoma has been the Seagulls' standout performer throughout 2023 as he's scored many crucial goals right throughout the year. His contributions in the first half of the year were crucial to Brighton qualifying for Europe last season and this season has stepped up as their main man following the departures of Alexis Mac Allister and Moises Caceido.
BURNLEY - JOSH BROWNHILL
Brownhill was one of the Clarets' standout performers during their promotion season last season and has arguably been one of their better performers this season. He's worked his socks off in the midfield all year round and has also popped up with some crucial contributions.
CHELSEA - THIAGO SILVA
2023 has been a rotten year for Chelsea, but if there was one player who stood up for them, it was the veteran Brazilian. He's made crucial interventions when his team have needed him to and has stepped up as the leader in the team on more than a few occasions. He's showing no signs of slowing down at 39.
CRYSTAL PALACE - EBERECHI EZE
The Eagles needed a new talisman following the departure of Wilfried Zaha and Eze has very much been that man. He stepped up towards the end of last season when Zaha was out injured and has carried that form into this season. His goals at the of last season were crucial in Palace ending the season strongly and they also earned him an England call up.
EVERTON - JORDAN PICKFORD
Pickford has probably been the Toffees most consistent performer in what has been another difficult year for them. He's kept them in games time and time again with the crucial saves he;s made and without him, they'd probably be in the Championship.
FULHAM - JOAO PALHINHA
The Cottagers nearly lost Palhinha in the summer and they'll be more than glad that they managed to keep hold of him. He was their player of the season last season and has been one of their most consistent performers this season by dictating play in the midfield and protecting the back four.
LIVERPOOL - MOHAMED SALAH
Salah has once again proved how important he is for Liverpool by scoring many crucial goals right throughout the year. Only Erling Haaland scored more goals than him in 2023 and without him, the reds might be where they are.
LUTON - TOM LOCKYER
Lockyer was the Hatters' player of the season during their promotion campaign last season and has arguably been their best player this season. He's made many crucial interventions when his team have needed him to and his leadership in the backline has made Luton a solid outfit defensively. I now wish him a speedy recovery after recently suffering another cardiac arrest.
MAN CITY - ERLING HAALAND
It just had to be this man. Haaland broken the record for most goals in a single season last season as won their third straight Premier League title and his other goals were crucial in City winning the treble. He's taken City onto another level.
MAN UNITED - BRUNO FERNANDES
He has had his fair share of stick for his antics but whenever United have needed someone to come up with a moment of magic, Fernandes has usually been that player. He's come up with many of those moments over the course of the year and without him, United might be a lot lower down the table.
NEWCASTLE - KIERAN TRIPPIER
Trippier was the Magpies' player of the season last season and has arguably been their best player so far this season. Defensively he's been solid whilst going he's always been effective both from open play and set pieces.
NOTTINGHAM FOREST - TAIWO AWONIYI
Awoniyi's goals at the back end of last season were crucial to Forest staying up last season and he carried that form into the start of this season. His goals have been a huge loss for Forest since he's been out injured as they've dropped many places down the table.
SHEFFIELD UNITED - OLIVER NORWOOD
I couldn't think of many players who have stood out for the Blades throughout the whole of 2023 but if there was someone who did, it was Norwood. The Northern Irish midfielder was a key player for them in their promotion campaign last season and has been one of their better performers so far this season.
TOTTENHAM - HEUNG MIN SON
I couldn't think of many players who have stood out for Spurs throughout 2023 but if I had to pick one, it would have to be Son. He scored some crucial goals for them in the first half of the year despite not having his best season and this season, he has stepped up as their main man following the departure of Harry Kane.
WEST HAM - JARROD BOWEN
Bowen put himself into the West ham history books last season with his winning goal in the Europa Conference League final and he scored some crucial goal on their way to the final. This season he has stepped up as the Hammers' main man following the departure of Declan Rice and his form this season earned him a recall to the England squad.
WOLVES - CRAIG DAWSON
Dawson has been brilliant since he joined Wolves at the start of 2023 and has in my opinion been their best player throughout the entire year. His performances in the first half of the year were crucial to Wolves climbing away from the relegation zone last season and he has carried that form into this season as Wolves are sitting comfortably in mid-table.
