Carabao Cup Final 2025 Preview

PROBABLE STARTING LINE UPS FOR BOTH TEAMS:

Liverpool are the current holders of this competition and are also the record winners - winning it 10 times.

They come into this final without a recognised right back with both Trent Alexander-Arnold and Conor Bradley unavailable due to injury. My guess is that Jarell Quansah will start there as he came on in place of Alexander-Arnold against PSG in midweek.

The reds will field a much stronger team in this final unlike last season where they had a lot of injuries and were forced to play a number of their youngsters.

Newcastle were beaten in the final of this competition two season ago when they lost to Man United and are still waiting for that first major trophy since 1955.

Some people might think that they're a better team than they were two seasons ago, but I don't think they are as it's roughly the same team.

The Magpies come into this game in patchy form and one reason for it could be that they had one eye on this game. It will be interesting to see what kind of performance they put in here off the back of their recent form in all competitions.

PREDICTION:

Liverpool did have extra time and penalties to deal with against PSG in midweek, and Newcastle might use this to their advantage. But the reds have had enough time to recover and get themselves ready for this game and with the quality they have, I think they'll get over their Champions League exit and win the cup.
