Jackson proving is worth to Villa

Villa's season took time to get going following a slow start and one man who has found his form at around the same time they have is new striker Nicolas Jackson.

There may have been some doubts about Villa signing Jackson because of the criticism he received whilst at Chelsea for not being clinical enough in front of goal.

But since joining Villa, he's without a doubt proving his worth as he's already got 4 goals in 7 Premier League games and 7 goals in all competitions which is a very impressive start.

One reason why he's excelling at Villa is because he's playing under a manager who he's worked under before in Unai Emery, who managed Jackson during their time together at Villarreal.

Two of Emery's strengths as a manager are getting the best out of players and making them better and both are working with Jackson as Villa are playing to his strengths and Emery is giving him the confidence to go out there and score goals.

Jackson is also at a club where the expectations aren't as high which is another reason why he is thriving because at Chelsea, he was at a club where the expectations were very high and where he was expected to score 20+ goals a season whereas at Villa, he's at a club that is more on his level because the expectations are slightly lower than what they are at Chelsea.

His form has concided with Villa's upturn in form and he's already proving himself as a like for like replacement for Ollie Watkins.

Are Spurs beginning to turn a corner?

Spurs loooked set for another difficult season following their poor start where they found points and goals hard to come by.

But things now finally appear to be looking up following back-to-back wins over Coventry and Chelsea which have lifted them up to 12th.

Are they beginning to turn a corner?

They're definitely looking more like a team than they were earlier in the season because they're playing well and are more connected which wasn't the case during the early weeks of the season.

They brought in a lot of players during the summer and were trying to fit them all in during the early weeks of the season which is never easy as some clubs have found out.

Their recent results and performances will have definitely given them a lot of confidence because winning games and playing well can do that to a team.

There are still questions marks hanging over them and especially in attack because they have been wasteful in a lot of their games this season.

But if they can build on their recent good results and performances over the next month or so, we could be saying that they've turned a corner.

Are Liverpool's £100 million men starting to deliver?

Liverpool's three £100 million men - Florian Wirtz, Alexander Isak, and Bradley Barcola - have all come in for a lot of criticism since joining the club because they haven't exactly lived up to the big price tags the club paid for them.

All of them were involved with the goals they scored against Brighton on Sunday with Florian Wirtz scoring the first before it was given as a Pascal Gross own goal and Bradley Barcola setting up Alexander Isak for the second.

Could this be a sign that they're all beginning to deliver?

Wirtz and Barcola have been the main ones who have been criticized this season as Wirtz hasn't been influencing games enough and Barcola has lacked confidence.

But recently they've both shown signs that they're beginning to live up to the big price tags paid for them with Wirtz having registered a goal and 2 assists in his last three games in all competitions, and Barcola scoring a hat trick against LASK in the Champions League alongside picking up an assist each in his last two Premier League games.

Isak got stick for the majority of last season but this season he's been a completely different player as he's looked fit and has benefitted from having a full pre-season under his belt. Something he didn't have last season after going on strike at Newcastle to get his big money move.

He's scored 6 times in the Premier League this season with only Erling Haaland scoring more which is double the amount he got in the whole of last season.

Wirtz had arguably his best game in a Liverpool shirt against Brighton as he was getting on the ball and making things happen by getting the ball to his fellow attackers at the first opportunity.

The same could be said about Barcola in terms of the Premier League as he always offered a threat with his pace and looked more lively than he has done in previous games.

The performances of all three players against Brighton will give them all a lot of confidence moving forward and if they can keep producing that kind of performance and stay fit, we'll finally say that they're living up to the big price tags the club paid for them.

Carrick surely now on thin ice

The pressure has been building on Man United boss Michael Carrick over the last month or so because of the poor start his side have made and their worst since 1980.

But now he surely has to be on thin ice and especially after his side's defeat to Bournemouth where they looked passive and were outplayed for the entire game.

Carrick made a big call before that game in dropping captain and talisman Bruno Fernandes following his comments after their defeat in Como which he described as a footballing decision.

Fernandes didn't even come on in the second half which United went into 2-0 down and it was surprising that he wasn't brough on because if there is one player United turn to turn the gane around, it's usually him.

The red devils are now 16th in the table and just a point above the relegation zone after picking up just one Premier League win all season with that sole victory coming against Ipswich at the end of August.

They also have some difficult games coming up with Chelsea, Aston Villa and Liverpool in their next three alongside two Champions League games against Roma and Sporting Lisbon.

Whether Carrick gets those games remains to be seen and there is a chance that he might not get any of them because of the amount of pressure he is under and him currently rumored to be in talks with the club's CEO Omar Berrada and director of football Jason Wilcox over his future.
