Key Points of the Weekend

Arsenal showing why they're favourites
Arsenal are rightly the favourites to win the title this season and they showed why during their opening game against Coventry.
It might've been the first game of the season, but the Gunners' win and performance sent out a message to the rest of the Premier League and was a statement of intent.
They dominated Coventry from start to finish on Friday as they moved the ball crisply and showed the attacking intent their fans maybe didn't see enough of last season.
Martin Odegaard looked back to his best along with Bukayo Saka and if they can keep both players fit, they'll be able to express themselves more in attack.
Their performance will give them a lot of confidence moving forward along with the result and with the strong squad they have, they will take some stopping.
Reality check for Spurs
Expectations will have been high for Spurs heading into the new season after spending about £300 million on new players with some people even tipping them for the top four.
But if there was one thing that their defeat at Brentford taught us it's that they're still a long way from the level they want to be at as their performance showed.
It's hard to forget that this is a Spurs side that were a game away from going down last season so their expectations really shouldn't be as high as most people think they should be.
But when a club spends as much money as Spurs have done this summer, their expectations will of course be high because they'll be expected to do very well this season.
Their defeat to Brentford will be seen as a reality check because it showed that last season's flaws are still there and that they're nowhere near the levels of the top teams despite spending the amount of money they did.
Are Villa in for a tough season?
It's been a tough summer for Aston Villa so far as they've lost three important players in Youri Tielemans, Morgan Rogers and most recently Ezri Konsa and could potentially lose more.
Ollie Watkins, who was left out of the matchday squad against Brighton, is strongly linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League and Emiliano Martinez has been linked with a move all summer.
Their absences were all felt in their opening day defeat at Brighton as they had just five touches in the opposition penalty area and were all over the place defensively.
Could they be in for a tough season?
Losing your best players is difficult for any team because of how important they were and replacing them is even tougher because the players they want may not be available or they might not have the money to buy them.
Villa do have time to find replacements for the players they lost, but not a lot as the window closes next Tuesday.
With Arsenal up next for Unai Emery's side and Champions League games thrown into the mix next month, they could be in for a tough season.
