TUESDAY:

MAN CITY V BRENTFORD

This fixture was meant to be played before Christmas but it got rescheduled due to Man City's involvement at the Club World Cup.

The two sides did meet just a couple of weeks ago at the Gtech Community Stadium with Phil Foden's hat trick giving City a 3-1 win after coming from behind.

This is a massive week for City as they have this game in game in hand before facing Bournemouth at the weekend whilst Liverpool are in Carabao Cup final action. They need to win both to stay in touching with Liverpool at the top.

Brentford won this fixture 2-1 last season thanks to an Ivan Toney double and the player himself has been in good form since he returned - scoring in al but one of his five games since he returned.

But the Bees' form hasn't exactly improved having won just two of those five games since he returned. But to be fair to them, they have been without a number of key players through injury which never helps.

City are yet to lose at home this season and their last defeat at the Etihad was the defeat in this fixture last season. I don't see a repeat of that here because of the form they've been in at home and the form they've been in since the turn of the year.

PREDICTION: 3-1

WEDNESDAY:

LIVERPOOL V LUTON

Liverpool's win at Brentford on Saturday came at a cost as they lost three players to injury in Jota, Jones and Nunez who join a number of players on the treatment table.

They do have Mo Salah back which is a massive boost but the amount of players they have out injured is a massive blow for them. Especially with the Carabao Cup final coming up this weekend.

Luton have competed well when taking on the big teams this season and they were unlucky not to come away with at least a point against Man United on Sunday.

They were seconds away from beating Liverpool when the two sides met at Kenilworth Road in November and Rob Edwards will want a similar kind of performance from his team in this one.

The Hatters will definitely compete like they have done in most of their games this season and especially against the big teams. But with this game being played at Anfield and Liverpool having such a strong record there, I think the reds will come out on top here.

PREDICTION: 2-0
