Ronaldo is still a game changer
Some people have said that Cristiano Ronaldo has been the problem for Man United this season as their their team hasn't functioned well since his return. But you simply cannot ignore the fact that he is still very much a game changer for them after his hat trick against Spurs on Sunday. He may be 37 years old but he still has the hunger to score goals and the ability to make a difference for his team.
He hasn't got the pace he once had but when you need Ronaldo to come up with the goods he's usually there. He always seems to be in the right place at the right time and when he is you can always rely on him to put the ball in the net. His second and third goals against Spurs showed that as he poked home Jadon Sancho's cross for his second and headed home from a corner to complete his hat trick. Even though he's in the twilight of his career, Ronaldo still comes up with the big moments that can decide games.
Everton now in deep trouble
There were positives from Everton in their defeat to Wolves on Sunday but when you look at the league table, it does not look good for them. They're only outside the bottom three on goal difference and have won just once in 11 games which is not good reading for them. You have to say now that they're in deep trouble.
Frank Lampard knew how tough a job he had on his hands the moment he became Everton manager and his task has been made even more difficult in recent weeks. His side are low on confidence as a result of their recent form and relegation is now a possibility for them. With some tough games coming up between now and the end of the season with five of them coming against teams currently in the top six, the Toffees are now very much in the relegation battle.
Have Watford turned a corner?
Watford gave their survival hopes a massive boost at the weekend with their win over Southampton which moved them level on points with 17th placed Everton. With the performance being much improved from the one they put in against Wolves and the result giving them a good chance of staying up; Are Watford turning a corner as a result of this?
Their win over Southampton will definitely give them some confidence because of the way they played and the importance of the result. They got the result by pressing high and being a threat on the counter at every opportunity with the forward players playing a massive part in that. The forward players looked dangerous whenever they had the ball and their individual performances will be a big plus for the Hornets moving forward. If the forward players can play like they did against Southampton and the defenders can cut out their mistakes, the Hornets have a good chance of staying up.
