Is Jack Grealish turning a corner in his Man City career?
Jack Grealish hasn't been exactly brilliant since his record move to City last year with his performance being rather indifferent. But against Wolves he showed what kind of player he is with the overall performance he put in. So is he turning a corner in his Man City career?
Against Wolves he got his goal by being in the right place at the right time and was taking on players which he did a lot of during his time at Aston Villa. He was given the freedom on the pitch to show what he can do and he benefitted from that massively by showing off bits of skill and beating players in one on one situations. This is what Grealish has been known for over the last 2-3 years and he hasn't done enough of it in a City shirt. His performance will give him a lot of confidence as will his goal and if he can put in a similar performance week in week out and add more goals to his game, he'll hopefully start living up to that £100 million price tag.
Brendan Rodgers facing the sack at Leicester
Six defeats in a row and just a single point to their name after seven games. You have to say that Brendan Rodgers is dangerously close to being sacked and especially after losing 6-2 to Spurs at the weekend. There were a few positives from that game for the Foxes but the score line and the way they defended could encourage the owners to press the button. Especially as they're still at the foot of the table.
Defensively are where the Foxes' problems lie as they've conceded 22 goals which is more than any other team in the league this season. They're missing Kasper Schmeichel and badly because he was their leader in the team and they obviously haven't replaced him given their poor start and the amount of goals they've conceded.
Rodgers will of course receive a lot of criticism for this as he's the manager and it's his job to get the best of the current players he has. The players will also get a lot of stick but the buck always stops with the manager as the saying goes. Having lost six games in a row and that sort of run being one that often gets a manager sacked, I do fear that Rodgers will get the sack very soon. Especially with an international break coming up.
Is Granit Xhaka finally delivering the goods for Arsenal?
Granit Xhaka has been criticized a lot throughout his time at Arsenal with many people thinking that he should've been sold some months ago. But after an impressive performance against Brentford on Sunday where he assisted the second goal, his fortunes might start changing for him. So is he finally delivering the goods for Arsenal?
He was playing more as a box to box midfielder against Brentford as he had the energy to push up the pitch to help his team out in attack and to get back and make some crucial interventions. He's been used more as a deep lying midfielder during his time with the Gunners which never suited him as he lacked the discipline to perform that role where he also gave the ball away a number of times.
Now playing as a box to box midfielder he's been given the freedom to show his critics how effective he can be in that role which is one he plays in with Switzerland. Having Thomas Partey alongside him in midfield helps as the Ghanaian can just sit in that pivot role which then enables Xhaka to roam free and help out the attacking players. If he can produce the kind of the performance he produced against Brentford on a regular basis, he could become a key player for the Gunners.
