Postecoglou sacking was expected, but the owner must look at himself

Ange Postecoglou was sacked just minutes after his Nottingham Forest side were beaten 3-0 by Chelsea and the decision was very much expected to happen because of the poor results they've had since he took over and the fans already turning on him.

But when I look back at the decision, the owner Angelos Marinakis has to have a good look at himself as he made the decision to appoint Postecoglou and sack Nuno Espirito Santo who did a fantastic job last season.

The decision to sack Nuno in the first place was wrong because of the job he did last season in bringing European football back to the City Ground. He might've got himself sacked by saying in a press conference that he and Marinakis weren't close, but they still should've kept him in charge because of the job he did last season.

Appointing Postecoglou was even worse decision because the players were not suited to his brand of football and adjusting to a completely different style during a season is never straightforward.

Marinakis should've appointed someone who plays a similar brand of football to Nuno as the players are more familiar with that style instead of Postecoglou's front-footed style.

Are Man United and Amorim turning a corner?

Man United's win at Liverpool on Sunday was the first time they won back-to-back games under Ruben Amorim after beating Sunderland at home before the international break.

Now that they've won back-to-back games, are United and Amorim beginning to turn a corner?

Their two straight wins should give them confidence as winning games breeds confidence into a team and their win at Liverpool will have given them more confidence.

That is because wins over clubs the size of Liverpool gives teams loads of confidence and especially when you beat them at Anfield which is such a tough place to go.

But whether they'll follow their back-to-back wins up with another one next week against Brighton remains to be seen as United have often not turned up against so-called lesser teams.

They will hopefully have some confidence as a result of their back-to-back wins and especially after beating Liverpool at Anfield, but whether they have turned or a corner or not will depend on the results they get in their next few games.
