Should Danny Welbeck be in the England squad?

Danny Welbeck is the highest scoring Englishman in the Premier League this season with 6 goals and all of those 6 goals have been spread out across four of his last five games.

Because of the form he's in and the fact that he is the highest scoring Englishman in the Premier League, should he be in the England squad?

Welbeck hasn't played for England since 2018 and will be turning 35 later this month and a lot of people may think that he's too old to play for England because of his age.

But he has shown recently that he's still got it at the age of 34 turning 35 and is in better form than the other English strikers currently playing in the Premier League.

He also has a very good record for England scoring 16 goals in 46 games and Thomas Tuchel may look back on that as well as his current form when he thinks about putting him in his squad.

He has a good chance of earning a recall because of the form he is in but because of his age, there is a chance that he might not be included.

Wolves surely now good as relegated

No one should really dismiss a team's chances of staying up after ten games because there is still a long way to go and plenty of time for that said team to turn things around.

But with Wolves having picked up just two points after ten games this season, you have to say that they look good as relegated.

They've been woeful at both ends of the pitch as they've looked far too open at the back and haven't looked like scoring goals at the other.

They did in all fairness lose two key players over the summer in Matheus Cunha and Rayan Ait-Nouri which was always going to be tough because important they both were for them.

But they did not replace either of them and their inability to replace them both is another things that is costing them this season.

Now that Vitor Pereira has been sacked just over a month after signing a new contract, there could be an upturn in results as whoever the new manager is might get a tune out of the players.

But I just don't see it because their squad lacks quality and I can see the clubs above them pick up more points between now and the end of the season.

Could win over Newcastle be a turning point for West Ham?

West Ham put in a much improved performance against Newcastle on Sunday as they had more energy and looked more connected as a team.

Energy is one of the main aspects they've lacked as they've been criticized for not having enough legs or pace in the team. But they had plenty of it against Newcastle as they were by far the better side and were more up for it.

They worked better as a team than they have done all season as they pressed as a unit without the ball and their attacking players linked up much better also.

Could their win Newcastle be a turning point for them?

The result and the performance will certainly give them confidence because winning games and putting in good performances gives a team confidence.

But whether they can follow it up remains to be seen as this result was only their second win of the season and it's been a long time since they last won back-to-back games.

They need to follow this win up with more results like it because of where they are in the table and how desperate they are to win games so they can climb up the table.

They do have a tough run of fixtures coming up with Bournemouth, Liverpool, Man United, Aston Villa and Man City in four of their next seven games, but if they can win the winnable games during that stretch, they could potentially turn a corner.

Everton need a striker

Everton's main issue over the last few seasons has been the lack of a clinical centre forward and it's once again proving to be their main problem this season.

Their two main strikers in Beto and Thierno Barry have just one goal between them this season and have both missed a lot of big chances with Beto missing the majority of them.

It was Barry's turn to lead the line against Sunderland on Monday and he missed a very good chance at the back post to put Everton 2-0 up in the first half. Beto later came on in the second half but didn't make much of an impact as Sunderland took control of the game and were the better side during that period of the game.

They haven't had a clinical no.9 maybe since Romelu Lukaku left eight years ago and they haven't properly replaced him since.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin did have that 16-goal season under Carlo Ancelotti during the 2020/21 season, but they still never really replaced Lukaku as Calvert-Lewin's career soon became hampered by injuries.

If the Toffees are to push up the league this season and finish in and around at east the top 10, they need to bring in a centre forward in January.
