How many unwanted records with Wolves break this season?
I think we all know that Wolves are going to get relegated this season based on the amount of points they have and the lack of quality in their team overall.
They equalled the record for the longest winless start in Premier League history following their defeat to Brentford on Saturday which was set by Sheffield United in the 2020/21 season and they're probably going to break that record as their next two games are against Liverpool and Man United.
As well as that record, how many more unwanted records will they break this season?
I asked a couple of weeks back if they could break Derby's points record of 11 from the 2007/08 season and they well could do as they've picked up just 2 points so far this season and when I look at their fixtures, I don't see them picking up many more points between now and the end of the season because of how low on confidence they are.
Their total of 2 points is the joint fewest amount of points at this stage of the season and they share that record with Sheffield United from the 2020/21 season.
Another record they could break could be the least amount of goals scored in a season which is also held by Derby from the 2007/08 season where they scored just 20 goals.
Wolves have scored just 9 times this season and unless they sign a prolific centre forward in January, I don't see them scoring too many more between now and the end of the season because their attack is both short on confidence and quality.
There are probably more record they could break before the end of the season given how poor they've been this season and we'll find out how many they do end up breaking at the end of the season.
Is Dominic Calvert-Lewin pushing for an England recall?
Dominic Calvert-Lewin continued his fine form over the weekend as he netted twice in Leeds' 4-1 win over Crystal Palace to make it six goals in his last five games.
With the form he's in, is he pushing for an England recall?
Calvert-Lewin hasn't played for England since Euro 2020 due to recurring injury problems which have stalled his career over the last few seasons.
He's appeared to put those injury troubles behind him with the form he's currently in and Thomas Tuchel will surely be aware of his return to form.
Tuchel only called up one recognised striker in Harry Kane during the last international break and the race to be his back up at the World Cup is very much open.
Ollie Watkins hasn't got going this season as he's found the net just 3 times and because of this, Calvert-Lewin may fancy his chances of earning a recall to the England squad.
There will still be questions over his injury record as I mentioned last week but if he can stay fit and keep up the current form he's been in, he could potentially find his way back into the England squad.
Morgan Rogers is an early contender for player of the season
I know we're only in December and there is still a lot of football to be played between now and the end of the season, but if I was to hand out the player of the season award now, Morgan Rogers would definitely be one of the names up for consideration.
He's taken his game onto another level this season as he's more than stepped up as Villa's main man by registering 7 goals and 3 assists and is arguably leading the race to start for England in the no.10 role at the World Cup.
He kept up his fine form with another very good display against Man United on Sunday where he scored twice for the second game running after netting twice against West Ham the previous weekend. His first goal was a beauty as he curled the ball into the top corner from a tight angle.
He's been a real catalyst in Villa's upturn in form following their difficult start to the season with the performances he's put in and contributions he's provided and he seems to be a player who is getting better game by game.
There has been a lot of talk recently about him starting for England in the no.10 role at the World Cup in the summer with a lot of people saying that he definitely should because of the form he's been in and the fact that Thomas Tuchel has played in that position in England's recent games.
I personally would still start Jude Bellingham in that position as he's arguably England's best player but if Rogers keeps up the current form he's in, he's got a very good chance of starting in the no.10 role for the World Cup.
There are of course other players who are serious contenders for the player of the season like Declan Rice and Erling Haaland for example.
And if Rogers can continue doing what he's been doing, he has to be up there for the award.
