The Premier League has seen many of the best players in the world come over and make a huge impact over the years and whilst many of them have lit up our league, there have also been a number of them who have been disappointing.

There are a number of factors why they've struggled to deliver in the Premier League such as the league itself being too quick or physical for them, they might've struggled to settle into the country and the player maybe not fitting the way their team plays.

Any player can be as good as they can be on their day, but when they come to the Premier League, they soon find out how challenging a league it is because of the intensity and speed of the games being completely different to what they're used to.

A lot of the so-called big name players who have come over to this country have realised that and some of them are in the list.

Before I reveal the list, I just want to mention that there are a few players who were already playing in the Premier League as well as players who came from overseas.

Now here is the list:

Andriy Shevchenko - AC Milan to Chelsea - 2006

Alexis Sanchez - Arsenal to Man United - 2018

Fernando Torres - Liverpool to Chelsea - 2011

Andy Carroll - Newcastle to Liverpool - 2011

Antony - Ajax to Man United

Juan Sebastian Veron - Lazio to Man United - 2001

Angel Di Maria - Real Madrid to Man United - 2014

Radamel Falcao - Monaco to Man United - 2014

Memphis Depay - PSV to Man United - 2015

Tiemoue Bakayoko - Monaco to Chelsea - 2017

  1. Andy Carroll - Newcastle to Liverpool

Carroll joined Liverpool for a then-club record fee of £35 million in a deal which saw Fernando Torres join Chelsea.

He was anything but worth that hefty price tag as he scored just 6 league goals and never suited the way Liverpool played.

I think he should've stayed at Newcastle because he hadn't played in the Premier League long, as Newcastle were a newly promoted team at the time, and he was at a club where he was playing well and in a team that suited his style.

  1. Tiemoue Bakayoko - Monaco to Chelsea

Bakayoko was one of the most exciting young players in Europe when he joined Chelsea after impressing for Monaco during their run to the Champions League semi finals the season before.

But he just never settled in at Chelsea as he struggled with the pace of the Premier League and never fit in with the way Chelsea played.

He didn't get a pre-season to be fair to him which is always difficult and especially when you join a new club. But he never got going and never looked like the player Chelsea thought they were getting.

He lasted just one season at Stamford Bridge before having loan spells at AC Milan, Napoli and back at Monaco.

  1. Antony - Ajax to Man United

Man United paid £82 million for Antony when they signed him from Ajax which saw him follow manager Erik Ten Hag to the club.

But he never lived up to that price tag as he spent most of the time performing fancy rainbow flicks and 360 turns instead of contributing his goals or assists.

He was a player with a lot of ability at Ajax but at United he rarely showed it as his performances frustrated fans and viewers alike.

He left United in the summer to join Real Betis after impressing on loan there towards the end of last season and he looks a lot happier there as he's been playing with a freedom and with a smile on his face.

  1. Memphis Depay - PSV to Man United

Memphis was seen as the new Ronaldo when he joined Man United as he was a player who was incredibly skilful and quick.

But he was anything but that as he struggled with the pace and intensity of the Premier League and spent most of his time at United on the bench.

He netted just 2 league goals in a season and a half at United and after struggling to force his way into Jose Mourinho's plans, he was soon sold to Lyon where he got back to the levels he was at before.

  1. Radamel Falcao - Monaco to Man United

Falcao was one of the best strikers in the world when he joined Man United on loan and a lot of people were expecting him deliver because of it.

But he was a shadow of the player he was as he didn't fit into the way United played and struggled with the physicality of the Premier League.

He did come into the season off the back recovering from an ACL injury which forced him to miss the 2014 World Cup and this may have also been a factor in him being so poor at United.

But he still never settled into the Premier League as he scored just 4 times during that one season on loan at United before having another failed loan spell at Chelsea.

  1. Juan Sebastian Veron - Lazio to Man United

Veron was one of the best midfielders around when he joined Man United and there were high expectations because of this.

But he didn't live up those expectations as he struggled with the pace and intensity of the Premier League and didn't really fit the way Man United played.

He was a brilliant player on his day as he was brilliant at both sides of the game which made him the complete midfield player.

But we didn't see the best of him in England because of him struggling with the intensity and pace of the Premier League.

  1. Fernando Torres - Liverpool to Chelsea

Torres looked like one of the best strikers in the world when he was at Liverpool and it was probably why Chelsea paid a then-Premier League record fee of £50 million.

But at Chelsea he was a shadow of the player he was at Liverpool as he failed to reach double figures for goals in any of the four seasons he spent at Stamford Bridge.

He scored a total of 20 Premier League goals at Chelsea compared to the 65 he got at Liverpool.

The reasons why he struggled at Chelsea could've been down to maybe not suiting the way Chelsea played, not forming any partnerships with his teammates or even losing that sharpness he had in front of goal.

  1. Angel Di Maria - Real Madrid to Man United

Di Maria joined Man United for a then-Premier League record fee of £59 million when he arrived from Real Madrid and he got off to a pretty good start by registering 3 goals and 6 assists in his first 10 games.

But his form soon took one big nose dive as his performance levels dipped which led him to being relegated to the bench.

There were a number of reasons why it didn't work out for him at United including his family struggling to settle in England which he stated in an interview he gave a few years ago.

He also didn't have a set position in the team as Louis Van Gaal kept playing him in a variety of positions which didn't help him in finding some consistency.

  1. Alexis Sanchez - Arsenal to Man United

Sanchez at Arsenal was right up there among the best players in the world because of his work rate, pace and ability to score goals.

But he was a shadow of that player at Man United as he probably didn't suit the way they were playing at the time due to Jose Mourinho's pragmatic style, which restricted him in doing what he could do going forward, and he also lost confidence.

His move to United was part of a swap deal that saw Henrikh Mkhitaryan go in the opposite direction in what was easily the worst swap deal of all-time.

  1. Andriy Shevchenko - AC Milan to Chelsea

Shevchenko had to be my no.1 because of the big name and profile of player he was at the time he joined Chelsea.

He was right up there among the best strikers in the world when he was at AC Milan and a lot of people were expecting him to hit the ground straight away at Chelsea because of this.

But he struggled to replicate the form he showed at Milan as he struggled with the pace and intensity of the Premier League, didn't suit the way Chelsea were playing and was often used out of position due to Didier Drogba being the preferred centre forward.

He scored just 9 times in two seasons at Chelsea before returning to Milan on loan and ending his career at Dynamo Kiev.

MY TOP 10:

  1. Andriy Shevchenko - AC Milan to Chelsea

  2. Alexis Sanchez - Arsenal to Man United

  3. Angel Di Maria - Real Madrid to Man United

  4. Fernando Torres - Liverpool to Chelsea

  5. Juan Sebastian Veron - Lazio to Man United

  6. Radamel Falcao - Monaco to Man United

  7. Memphis Depay - PSV to Man United

  8. Antony - Ajax to Man United

  9. Tiemoue Bakayoko - Monaco to Chelsea

  10. Andy Carroll - Newcastle to Liverpool
