Many players right across the world have lit up the game of football over the years including the ones from North America, Asia and the Caribbean which is what this top 10 is about.

A lot of players from those continents have been scouted by European clubs because they give them the chance to develop as players, something they probably weren't given the chance to if they stayed in their own country.

They arrive in Europe relatively unknown as they're arriving from a country where football isn't as well known as it is in Europe, and some of them even arrive as young players with potential.

They soon make themselves not long after arriving in Europe and go on to make a big impact at their club and become one of the best players around.

Most of the names in the list are among those players and here it is:

Heung Min Son

Dwight Yorke

Christian Pulisic

Alphonso Davies

Shinji Kagawa

Tim Cahill

Weston McKennie

Javier Hernandez

Hirving Lozano

Park Ji Sung

  1. Hirving Lozano

Lozano had to be at no.10 because he didn't quite live up to his potential after a promising start to his career.

He was brilliant when he was at PSV as he hit 17 goals in both of his two seasons there and showed why he was one of the most exciting young players around.

But he struggled to replicate that form at Napoli as his returns for both goals and assists were poor and his performances weren't consistent enough.

He only had one good season at Napoli in the 2020/21 season where he netted 11 goals in Serie A and 15 in all competitions.

He did put in a number of good performances during Napoli's title wining season in 2023 mostly due to his work rate without the ball. But he only scored 3 goals throughout the entire season.

  1. Weston McKennie

McKennie has been one of the top performing midfielders in Serie A in recent seasons due to his exceptional work rate off the ball and ability to win the ball back.

But my only criticism of him is that he doesn't score enough goals and his lack of goals could be why he hasn't been up there among the best midfielders in the Europe.

He's excellent at the defensive side of the game in making vital interventions and tracking back help his team out and this side of the game where his strengths lie.

He's been seen as a box-to-box midfielder because of his energy and work rate off the ball which has made him an important player for both Juventus and the USA national team.

But I think he needs to add more goals to his game so he can become a more complete midfielder.

  1. Shinji Kagawa

Kagawa was an incredible player to watch at Dortmund as he was skilful, a brilliant carrier of the ball and could both create and score goals.

He was an integral at the Dortmund side that won those back-to-back Bundesliga titles under Jurgen Klopp in 2011 and 2012 respectively and his performances in both campaigns earned him his big move to Man United.

That move to United unfortunately didn't work out because he couldn't hold down a regular starting role and especially under David Moyes.

He went back to Dortmund for a second spell following his disappointing spell at Man United and he was back to being the player he was in his first spell.

  1. Christian Pulisic

Pulisic had a bright future ahead of him when he first emerged at Borussia Dortmund but he hasn't quite lived up to it since.

His numbers at Dortmund where were surprisingly low given the talented player he was at the time whilst at Chelsea he couldn't hold down a regular starting spot despite a promising first season.

But since he's been at AC Milan, he's began to live up to the promise that was expected of him as his end product has improved a lot by hitting double figures for goals in each of the last two seasons.

His record for the USA national team is very good and he's been their main man for a number of years now going back to his early days in the team.

  1. Park Ji Sung

Park was a player who gave it his all whenever he played for Man United due to his energy and exceptional work rate which made him a valued player of the squad.

But I do think he was very underrated in that he didn't always get the credit he deserved despite the performances he produced for his team week in week out.

As well as put in a good shift for his team, he also popped up with a number of crucial goals and all of them were key to success his achieved at United.

We won almost everything on offer at United including four Premier League titles, three League Cup's and the Champions League and he played a key role in every single one of them.

  1. Tim Cahill

Cahill scored lots of important goals during his time at Everton with most of them being headers due to his aerial ability.

He could any kind of goal on his day as well as headers including that bicycle kick he scored for Everton against Chelsea and that volley he scored for Australia against Holland at the 2014 World Cup.

He arrived at Everton from Millwall in 2004 and went on to prove himself as a proven Premier League player and a key player for Everton under David Moyes as they competed to be the best of the rest.

He was used both as a forward and in midfield and stepped up whenever he played in either position as he had a lot of energy and a habit to break into the box and score goals.

  1. Javier Hernandez

Chicharito was relatively unknown when he joined Man United from the Mexican league and he immediately made himself known during his debut season by scoring 13 Premier League goals to help United win the title.

He was a valuable squad player throughout his time at United as he popped up with lots of important goals both as a starter and from bench and they were key in the success he achieved at United.

He joined Bayer Leverkusen after falling out of favour at United and he thrived as the main striker by scoring 26 times in all competitions in his debut season before bagging the following season.

He's Mexico's record goal scorer with 52 goals with four of them coming at three World Cup's and he also won two Gold Cup's with them in 2011 and 2015 respectively.

  1. Alphonso Davies

Davies has been one of the best full backs in the Europe over the last few seasons and especially going forward as he loves to get crosses into the box and take on players.

He's been right up there among the quickest players in the Bundesliga and among Europe's top five leagues and his lightning quick pace has caused opponents all kinds of problems.

He's won everything on offer at Bayern Munich including six Bundesliga titles, two German Cups and the Champions League and he played a key role in every single one.

He's been instrumental to Canada's rise over the last few years and will no doubt be key for them at the World Cup this summer.

  1. Heung Min Son

Son was right up there among the best attacking in Europe when he was at Spurs and he made such a difference to them whenever he was on the pitch due to his pace, energy and versatility.

Spurs were always a better team when he was on the pitch because of what he offered in pace and work rate off the ball as well a goal threat.

His importance to Spurs grew season after season as he became more influential and later went on to share the mantle of main man with Harry Kane by stepping up in his absence on multiple occasions.

The season where Spurs reached the Champions League final was the one where he began to step out of Kane's shadow and put himself among Europe's elite.

  1. Dwight Yorke

Yorke was instrumental for United during their treble winning season in 1999 by scoring 29 goals in all competitions and forming an effective and deadly partnership with Andy Cole up front.

His partnership with Cole was also instrumental to United wining the treble that season as they both knew where each other were on the pitch and had such good chemistry between them.

He was a striker who was quick, could link up play, could drop deep to receive the ball and was always in the right place to score goals.

The player he was at Man United and especially during their treble winning season in 1999 is why I have him at no.1.

MY TOP 10:

  1. Dwight Yorke

  2. Heung Min Son

  3. Alphonso Davies

  4. Javier Hernandez

  5. Tim Cahill

  6. Park Ji Sung

  7. Christian Pulisic

  8. Shinji Kagawa

  9. Weston McKennie

  10. Hirving Lozano
