One of the reasons why Arsenal have struggled defensively over the years has been because they never replaced this guy. Vieira has been another one of those players that Arsenal have struggled to replace over the years. His leadership as well as his physicality have both been missed by Arsenal ever since he left.

One of if not the most underrated player in Premier League history. Carrick was one of the best passers of a football on his day which is what made him a key player throughout his time at Man United. United were a better side post Fergie when he was in the team because of the presence he had on the pitch.

Hazard was absolutely world class on his day as he had the skill and pace to beat players which made him an absolute handful. 20. Mohamed Salah

Clubs: Chelsea - 2014 Liverpool - 2017-

Salah has been incredible since his return to the Premier League mainly because of the amount of goals he's scored. Never got much of a look in at Chelsea and since then he's gone on to prove them wrong by winning three golden boots and establishing himself as one of the attacking players in the world. His record breaking 32 goal season in 2017/18 will never be forgotten.

Ronaldo was on another level during his first spell at United as he could score any kind of goal and beat defenders with the pace and skills he had in his locker. His 31 goal season in 2007/08 made him the best in the world at the time and is still very much up there at 37 years of age.

17. Ashley Cole

Clubs: Arsenal - 2000-2006 Chelsea - 2006-2014

The best left back in Premier League in Premier League history. Cole was brilliant both in defence and attack by being solid defensively and effective going forward which made him a key player for both Arsenal and Chelsea. His move to the other side of London did receive some criticism but on the pitch Cole was absolute class.

16. Gary Neville

Clubs: Man United - 1994-2010

Neville is without a doubt the best right back to play in the Premier League because he was an all round good defender. He was a leader at the back who always knew where to be on the pitch and was also decent going forward. United haven't had anyone like him since he retired and there are not many like him around these days.

15. Didier Drogba

Clubs: Chelsea - 2004-2012 and 2014-2015

Drogba was an absolute monster on his day as he was strong, physical and a handful for any Premier League defence. He was a crucial part of that Chelsea side that won back to back titles under Jose Mourinho because of the goals he scored and the way he lead the line. He's someone Chelsea have struggled to replace ever since he left them the first time.

Clubs: West Ham - 1996-2000 Leeds - 2000-2002 Man United - 2002-2014 QPR - 2014-2015

Ferdinand was a key part of United's success during the latter years of Fergie's reign by being a leader at the back and a composed solid defender. He was good with the ball at his feet and his partnership with Nemanja Vidic is arguably one of the best in Premier League history. He's someone who United have struggled to replace since he left.

13. Andy Cole

Clubs: Newcastle - 1993-1995 Man United - 1995-2001 Blackburn - 2002-2004 Fulham - 2004-2005 Man City - 2005-2006 Portsmouth - 2006-2007 Sunderland - 2007

Cole currently holds the joint record for most goals in a single season with 34 in 1993/94 when he was at Newcastle and he certainly brought those goals with him when he joined United. His goals were a crucial part of United's success during the 90s and is currently the third highest goal scorer with 187.

12. Kevin De Bruyne

Clubs: Chelsea - 2013 Man City - 2015-

De Bruyne never got much a look in at Chelsea and has proved them why they were wrong to let him go ever since. He's been on a completely different level since he's been at City finishing top of the assists charts three times including his record equalling 20 assists season in 2019/20. He has an eye for a perfect pass and can shoot from any distance.

11. David Silva

Clubs: Man City - 2010-2020

Silva took City onto another level when he joined them in 2010 with his creativity and movement with the ball becoming a crucial part of their success under the Abu Dhabi ownership. He could pick out any kind of pass from anywhere on the pitch and was someone who opposition players struggled to get the ball off.

10. Wayne Rooney

Clubs: Everton - 2002-2004 and 2017-2018 Man United - 2004-2017

You just knew that he would have a great career the moment he burst into the scene. Rooney really announced himself with that goal on his league debut against Arsenal in 2002 and he hasn't looked back since. He's scored all kinds of goals right throughout his career and without them United may not have achieved the success they did. He's second on the all time goal charts and is also Man United's record goal scorer.

9. Peter Schmeichel

Clubs: Man United - 1992-1999 Aston Villa - 2001-2002 Man City - 2002-2003

Schmeichel for me is the best keeper to play in the Premier League because of the quality of saves he made and the times he had to make them. He pulled off many world class saves during his time at Man United as they went on to win multiple league titles all of which he was a key part of.

8. Frank Lampard

Clubs: West Ham - 1996-2001 Chelsea - 2001-2014 Man City - 2014-2015 on loan

Lampard was that midfielder who just loved scoring goals and he got 177 of them making him the highest goal scoring midfielder in Premier League history. He's one of the best midfielders to grace the game for that very reason and he's also Chelsea's all time record goal scorer with 211 goals.

7. Sergio Aguero

Clubs: Man City - 2011-2021

Aguero was the signing that took City onto the next level and he showed why by scoring 23 goals in his debut season including that dramatic late winner against QPR to give City their first league title in 44 years. He continued to show that seaosn in season out as he won three more titles and became the highest foreign goal scorer and recorded more hat tricks than any other player. If he stayed injury free, he might've had more golden boots to his name.

6. Paul Scholes

Clubs: Man United - 1994-2012

I have the feeling that Scholes was a bit underrated in that he didn't get as many England caps later on in his career. But he still got the praise he deserved as he could control the flow of a game in midfield and pick out any kind of pass from anywhere on the pitch. No wonder he's admired by the likes of Pep Guardiola and Zinedine Zidane.

5. Steven Gerrard

Clubs: Liverpool - 1998-2015

The best player not to win the Premier League without a shadow of a doubt. Gerrard was one of the best midfielders of his generation because of his range of passing, box to box runs and leadership on the pitch. He won many games for Liverpool by himself because of the desire and energy he had.

4. John Terry

Clubs: Chelsea - 1998-2017

Captain. Leader. Legend. JT was all of them. His positioning was first class as he always knew how and where to position himself when defending and was also a threat in both boxes. His leadership was crucial during all the title winning seasons he had at Chelsea and even during the 2016/17 campaign when he wasn't used as much.

3. Alan Shearer

Clubs: Blackburn - 1992-1996 Newcastle - 1996-2006

The all time record goal scorer was always going to be on this list because of the amount and kind of goals he scored right throughout his career. His goals along with his partnership with Chris Sutton played a huge role during Blackburn's title win in 1995 and he even turned down a move to Man United to join his boyhood club Newcastle where he carried on scoring goals.

2. Thierry Henry

Clubs: Arsenal - 1999-2007 and 2012 on loan

Henry was absolute world class on his day as he could score any kind of goal and also create many chances for his teammates. He has more golden boots than any other player with four and he is the joint record holder for assists in a season with 20 from the 2002/03 season. His 30 goals in the 2003/04 season were crucial to Arsenal going the entire season undefeated.

1. Ryan Giggs

Clubs: Man United - 1992-2014

This man just had to be at top spot. Giggs scored in almost every season of his career and he still had the same desire and levels of commitment as he approached the end of his career. He was a winger blessed with lots of pace from which he scored many great goals from and had a part to play in all 13 of his title wins with Man United.
