The new season kicks off around this time next month and a lot of clubs are already looking for new players in the transfer market.

With clubs getting their pre-season's up and running and the season a month away from kick off, what does each Premier League club need this summer?

ARSENAL - Striker

The lack of a clinical no.9 cost Arsenal many times last season as they were no where near challenging for the title. If they're to go that extra and win the title this season, they need that 20+ goal a season centre forward.

ASTON VILLA - Striker

Villa have another season of European football to look forward to this season and will therefore need to add more depth to their squad. The striker department is one area that could do with more depth as Ollie Watkins is the only recognised centre forward in their squad and if they're to compete on both fronts, they'll need someone to back him up.

BOURNEMOUTH - Centre Back

The departure of Dean Huijsen to Real Madrid has left a giant hole in the Cherries defence and will need replacing if they're to have another season like last season. They do have some good central defenders in their squad, but none of them were as influential as Huijsen was last season.

BRENTFORD - Defensive Midfielder

The Bees need to replace Christian Norgaard following his move to Arsenal which has left a big hole in their midfield. Norgaard has been an important player for the Bees ever since they've been in the Premier League and his departure is no doubt a big blow for them because of how crucial he was for the. They signed Jordan Henderson who can play there and will bring a lot of experience to the squad, but I'm not sure he has the legs to play that role as he's now 35.

BRIGHTON - Striker

Brighton have lacked a clinical centre forward for the last few seasons and if they're to push for Europe again this season, they need to have a reliable centre forward who can put the ball in the back of the net. Danny Welbeck might've netted 10 goals last season, but he's getting on a bit at the age of 34 and does pick up the odd injury every now and again.

BURNLEY - Striker

Despite their promotion last season, Burnley didn't have a clinical no.9 with their top goal scorer being midfielder Josh Brownhill with 18. Zian Flemming did net 12 times last season in that position and has since turned his loan deal into a permanent one, but if the Clarets are to stay up they need someone more proven at the top level to score the majority of their goals.

CHELSEA - Goalkeeper

Chelsea lacked a reliable shot stopper last season as Robert Sanchez made too many mistakes with a lot of them costing his team points. If the blues are to progress this season and push up the league, they need a more reliable keeper.

CRYSTAL PALACE - Central Midfielder

With Palace in Europe next season, they'll need to have a bigger squad so they can compete on both fronts and one area that could do with more depth is their midfield. The midfield is that one area of the team that gets rotated a lot and although the Eagles do have four options in that area in Hughes, Wharton, :erma and Doucoure, they could still do with one or two more because of the amount of games they're going to play and the amount of travelling involved.

EVERTON - Striker

Everton have lacked a clinical no.9 for a number of seasons now and it's been the reason why they've been battling to avoid relegation in recent seasons. If they're to kick on and push up the league this season, they need to buy that clinical centre forward.

FULHAM - Striker

Fulham have lacked a clinical no.9 ever since Aleksandar Mitrovic left two years ago and their lack of one cost them at times last season. Raul Jimenez might've scored 12 times last season, but he is getting on a bit at the age of 34 and if the Cottagers are to push for Europe again this season, they'll need to bring in a striker who can score goals on a consistent basis.

LEEDS - Centre Back

Leeds boss Daniel Farke was criticized a lot during his last spell in the Premier League with Norwich for being too open defensively and if he's to fare better this time round, his team will need to be tighter at the back. For that to happen, he'll need to bring in one or two central defenders who are proven at Premier League level.

LIVERPOOL - Striker

Despite winning the title last season, Liverpool still lacked a clinical no.9 up top as they relied heavily on Mo Salah's goals like they did in the season before. If they're to defend their title, they'll need to bring in a clinical centre forward to help ease the burden on Salah to score goals. Their need for a striker has increased recently following the tragic death of Diogo Jota a few weeks ago.

MAN CITY - Right Back

City have been one of the busiest teams in the transfer market so far as they've already signed left back Rayan Ait-Nouri, midfielder Tijjani Reijnders, and winger Rayan Cherki. But they are short in the right back area following Kyle Walker's departure to Burnley. Rico Lewis can play in that position, but as he's still young City should look to bring in someone more proven.

MAN UNITED - Striker

Scoring goals was United's achilles heal last season as they scored just 44 times, their lowest goals total in Premier League history. They've lacked a consistent goal scorer for a while now and if they're to do better this season, they need to bring in that centre forward who can score goals on a consistent basis.

NEWCASTLE - Striker

The Magpies will be back in European football this season and the last time they were in Europe, they struggled to compete on both fronts due to a lack of squad depth. If there is one area of their team that could do with more depth it is definitely the striker department as Alexander Isak is now their only recognised centre forward following Callum Wilson's departure.

NOTTINGHAM FOREST - Right Winger

Forest need a right winger to replace Anthony Elanga who recently left the club to join Newcastle. With Forest also in Europe this season, they may need to bring in more than one as their squad will need more depth if they're to compete on both fronts.

SUNDERLAND - Striker

If there is one thing every newly promoted side needs when they come up into the Premier League, it is a centre forward who can score 10-15 goals a season. Sunderland were the lowest goal scorers in the top six of the Championship last season and if they're to stand any chance of staying up this season, they need to bring in a striker who is proven at Premier League level.

TOTTENHAM - Centre Back

The defence was Spurs' achilles heal for the entirety of last season as they conceded a staggering 65 goals. They won't be as gung-ho this season under new boss Thomas Frank as they were under Ange Postecoglou, but they should still look to bring in a centre back to make them much stronger defensively.

WEST HAM - Centre Back

The defence has been West Ham's main issue in each of the last two seasons as they conceded over 60 goals in both campaigns. If they're to kick on and have a much improved season this season, they'll need to bring in a central defender to help them become tighter at the back.

WOLVES - Forward

Wolves need to buy a replacement for Matheus Cunha following his move to Man United earlier in the window. Cunha carried Wolves for the entirety of last season as they stayed up and they'll need to replace his goals if they're to stay out of another potential relegation scrap.
