Which Players could be pushing for an England call up this season?

The first England squad of the season will be announced on Friday as Thomas Tuchel looks ahead to their upcoming Nations League games over a two week international break against Spain, Croatia and two games against the Czech Republic.

Many players will be looking to force their way into the squad this season whilst some will be looking to force their way back in. Especially the players who missed out on the World Cup.

So which players could be pushing for an England call up?

JACK HINSHELWOOD - BRIGHTON

Hinshelwood established himself as a first team regular at Brighton over the last couple of seasons since Fabian Hurzeler took over and has impressed whenever he's been given an opportunity. He's currently part of the U21 set up and if he can continue to impress for Brighton as the season progresses, he could step up into the senior squad.

LIAM DELAP - NOTTINGHAM FOREST

Delap looked like the long term replacement for Harry Kane two seasons ago following a decent season at Ipswich only for his move to Chelsea not to work out. He moved to Forest over the summer and is at the right club and under the right manager to help him get his career back on track. If he can replicate the form he showed at Ipswich, he could at some point earn his first call up and especially with England short on options up top.

KIERNAN DEWSBURY-HALL - EVERTON

Dewsbury-Hall was Everton's most productive attacking player last season as he registered 8 goals and 4 assists. It will be tough for him to force his way into the England squad because of the players who are ahead of him but if he can have another good season this season, he could earn himself a first call up.

ETHAN NWANERI - BORUSSIA DORTMUND

Nwaneri is at Dortmund on loan from Arsenal in an attempt to get regular first team football after finding opportunities hard to come by last season. In Dortmund he's at a club that has recent experience of developing young English players with Jadon Sancho and Jude Bellingham being the main examples. He'll be determined to add himself to that list and if he can impress, he could find himself in the senior squad.

PLAYERS LOOKING TO EARN RECALLS:

ALEX SCOTT - BOURNEMOUTH

Scott earned his first England call up last November but didn't make a single appearance. He was high in demand during the summer following an impressive season at Bournemouth last season and with the way he's started this season, he could be in the squad on Friday.

TYRICK MITCHELL - CRYSTAL PALACE

Mitchell hasn't played for England since 2022 which was when he was first called up. He's been one of the most consistent full backs in the Premier League over the last few seasons and has been overlooked throughout that time. If he can continue to perform for Palace this season, he'll hopefully earn himself a deserved recall.

JAMES GARNER - EVERTON

Garner earned his first call up back in March where he impressed on his debut against Uruguay. But he was unfortunately left out of the World Cup squad and was unlucky not to make it following an excellent season at Everton. He's started this season relatively promising and could be back in the squad on Friday.

JARRAD BRANTHWAITE - EVERTON

Branthwaite hasn't played for England since the warm up games for Euro 2024 with injuries being the reason why. He's played every game for Everton so far this season after having a full pre season under his belt to get himself fit and if he can impress, he could find himself back in the squad.

MORGAN GIBBS-WHITE - NOTTINGHAM FOREST

Gibbs-White ended last season in fine form with his goals playing a key role in Forest staying up. But despite the form he was in, he was somehow left out of the World Cup squad and he'll no doubt be looking to win his place back in the squad. He's started this season relatively promising with a goal and 2 assists so far and could be back in the squad on Friday.

COLE PALMER - CHELSEA

Palmer was left out of the World Cup squad following a rather disappointing season with injuries being the main reason. He's looked back to his best this season after having a full pre season under his belt and with the way he's started this season, he'll surely be back in the squad on Friday.

PHIL FODEN - MAN CITY

Foden has had a couple of disappointing seasons since winning the PFA Player of the Year award in 2024 and was left out of the World Cup squad as a result of a disappointing season last season. He's played every game for City so far this season but was sent off in the Manchester Derby last weekend. If he can rediscover the form he was in a few seasons ago, he could earn himself a recall.

LEWIS HALL - NEWCASTLE

Hall was unlucky not to have been in the World Cup squad as he's arguably England's best out and out left back. He's started this season relatively well for Newcastle and with England still short on options at left back, he could be back in the squad on Friday.

ADAM WHARTON - CRYSTAL PALACE

Wharton was Palace's most consistent player last season but was somehow left out of the World Cup squad. He'll no doubt be looking to win back his place in the squad this season after missing out on the World Cup and it could happen on Friday.

HARRY MAGUIRE - MAN UNITED

Maguire earned himself an England recall back in March but was left out of the World Cup squad despite a strong end to the season with Man United. He may not be a starter, but he'll still be looking to return to the squad because of the experience he has with the national team.

LEVI COLWILL - CHELSEA

Colwill spent the majority of last season out with an ACL injury and has featured in all but one of Chelsea's four league games this season. Chelsea have struggled defensively this season, but Colwill still has the potential to be a top defender and if he can start putting in good performances for his team, he could find himself back in the squad.
