World Cup 2026 Team of the Tournament

GK: UNAI SIMON (SPAIN) - Simon conceded just one goal at the entire tournament as Spain had a brilliant defensive record. He might not have had masses to do because of how dominant Spain were in games, but he still stepped up when called upon by making important and crucial saves.

RB: PEDRO PORRO (SPAIN) - Porro was outstanding all tournament for Spain as he ran up and down that right hand side and made crucial contributions at both ends. He was a completely different player to the one he was at Spurs last season and his performances at this tournament will give him confidence heading into next season.

CB: PAU CUBARSI (SPAIN) - Cubarsi was the best young player at the World Cup and deservedly so as he looked calm, composed and solid all tournament. His performances at the back played a key role in Spain going all the way and he's already looking like a top quality player at the age of just 19.

CB: DAYOT UPAMECANO (FRANCE) - France had one of the best defences at this tournament and Upamecano was one of the reasons why. He made crucial interventions when his team needed him to and rock solid all tournament as France finished 4th.

LB: MARC CUCURELLA (SPAIN) - Cucurella had yet another strong tournament with Spain as he played a starring role to help them win their second World Cup. He made important contributions at both ends of the pitch in getting back to make crucial challenges and getting forward to support the attack.

CDM: RODRI (SPAIN) - Rodri was back to his best at this World Cup by controlling games in midfield and being at the heart of everything Spain did in possession. His ability to dictate play in midfield and win the ball back for his team were both key to Spain going all the way.

CM: FABIAN RUIZ (SPAIN) - Ruiz is yet to lose a game when he plays for Spain and his impressive record continued at this tournament. He was one of Spain's standout players at this tournament due to his vision and ability to carry the ball up the pitch, both of which played an important role in them winning the tournament.

CM: JUDE BELLINGHAM (ENGLAND) - Bellingham scored 7 goals at this tournament which was more than any other midfielder and England player at a major tournament. He stepped up whenever England needed someone to at this tournament and they might not have gone as far as they did without him.

RW: LIONEL MESSI (ARGENTINA) - Messi was as brilliant as he always has been at this World Cup as he scored 8 goals and provided many moments of brilliance when his team needed them. He showed that there is still plenty of life left in him at the age of 39.

LW: MICHAEL OLISE (FRANCE) - Olise registered more assists than any other player at this World Cup with 7 as France finished 4th. He was one of my players to look out for going into the tournament and he only went on and delivered.

ST: KYLIAN MBAPPE (FRANCE) - Mbappe lit up yet another World Cup as he bagged himself another golden boot by scoring 10 goals. He became the first player to win two World Cup golden boots and his goals were key to France reaching the semi finals.
