GK: JORDAN PICKFORD (EVERTON) - Pickford kept 4 clean sheets during December and also conceded the fewest goals with 3. He kept his team in games many times throughout the month as Everton put themselves in contention for Europe.

RB: MATTY CASH (ASTON VILLA) - Cash registered a goal and an assist each and ran up and down that right hand side all month. His contributions at both ends were key to Villa going on their amazing run and putting themselves in contention for the title.

CB: JAKE O'BRIEN (EVERTON) - O'Brien was solid at the back right throughout December as Everton had the best defence throughout the entire month. His contributions defensively played a massive part in that and he also popped up with an assist against Nottingham Forest when he set up the winning goal for Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

CB: JAKA BIJOL (LEEDS) - Bijol was defensively solid solid throughout December and also scored two crucial goals as Leeds went unbeaten for the entire month. Leeds were tougher to beat during December and Bijol was a key part of that and he's starting to look like a good signing for Daniel Farke's side.

LB: IAN MAATSEN (ASTON VILLA) - Maatsen ran up and down the left hand side all month and put in a good shift both defensively and offensively. He got back to make key interventions defensively when his team needed him to and always offered a threat when he went forward. The former in particular played a key role in Villa keeping up their good run of form.

RW: RAYAN CHERKI (MAN CITY) - Cherki carried his fine form from November into December as he registered 2 goals and 4 assists across the entire month. These contributions were key to Man City staying in touch with Arsenal at the top of the league and if he can keep up this kind of form, he could be one of the signings of the season.

CM: MORGAN ROGERS (ASTON VILLA) - Rogers was arguably the player of the month for December as he scored 5 goals to help Villa climb up to third and further his case to start for England in the no.10 role at the World Cup. If he carries on playing like he has done, he has a great chance of doing so.

CM: PHIL FODEN (MAN CITY) - Foden has been back to his best this season and he certainly showed why during December. He scored 4 goals during December as Man City began to put the pressure on Arsenal and is looking more like the player we saw two seasons ago when he won the Player of the Year award.

LW: HARRY WILSON (FULHAM) - Wilson was in fine form throughout December as he registered 2 goals and 4 assists to help Fulham move well clear of the relegation zone and into possible European contention. He's on course for the best goal scoring season of his career in the Premier League and if he can keep up the form he's in, he could be Wales' new talisman.

ST: HUGO EKITIKE (LIVERPOOL) - Out of all the signings Liverpool made during the summer, Ekitike has been by far the best of the lot. He's the reds' top scorer this season with 8 goals and 5 of them came in December as Liverpool finally found some form. He simply has to start more regularly for the reds because of the form he's been in since arriving.

ST: DOMINIC CALVERT-LEWIN (LEEDS) - Calvert-Lewin put his injury troubles behind him during December by scoring 6 goals as Leeds went unbeaten for the entire month and climbed out of the relegation zone. If he can stay fit and in form, he could force his way back into the England squad and maybe be part of the World Cup squad.
