Everton penalty was never a penalty

Everton were given a controversial penalty in their draw with Arsenal on Saturday which Iliman Ndiaye converted to level the score.

My opinion of the decision is what it wasn't a penalty because there wasn't enough contact from Myles Lewis-Skelley on Jack Harrison to bring him down.

Lewis-Skelley did have his arm around Harrison before the latter went down, but there wasn't enough contact for it to be a penalty.

Lewis-Skelley did also catch Harrison's ankle when he lost balance, but again there wasn't enough contact for it to be a foul.

West Ham need to keep Fullkrug fit

Niclas Fullkrug has had a frustrating first season at West Ham with injuries being the main reason. He's played just 11 times for the Hammers scoring 3 goals and has only started just one game all season.

Despite the struggles he's had this season, he did remind everyone of what he can offer in the Hammers' draw with Bournemouth on Saturday where he made an impact off the bench.

West Ham were a much better team when Fullkrug stepped off the bench as he gave them a focal point up top which is something they did not have in the first half. He also scored the equaliser, held the ball up and linked up the players around him.

His hold up play allowed the likes of Bowen and Kudus to run in behind and he linked up with both players a lot during the game.

He might've contributed a lot more had he not had his injury troubles and he is no doubt a player that the Hammers need to keep fit if they're to end this season strongly, and also do better next season.

Southampton never had the quality

Southampton's relegation was finally confirmed at the weekend following their defeat at Spurs and it was the earliest relegation in Premier League history - overtaking Derby's from the 2007/08 season.

When I look back on their relegation, all I will say is that they never had the quality or experience to survive.

In order to survive in the Premier League, you need to have players who are experienced in the Premier League and are capable of performing at Premier League level. Southampton had neither all season.

Defensively they've conceded more goals than any other side with 74 and a lot of them came from playing out from the back. That was mainly during the opening months of the season under Russell Martin and his inability to adapt was what got him the sack.

They did move away from that under Ivan Juric, but they still made defensive mistakes under him and still carried on conceding goals.

Going forward meanwhile they have the worst attack as they've scored just 23 goals with their top scorer Paul Onuachu scoring just 4 times.

Letting last season's top scorer in Adam Armstrong leave on loan to West Brom was a strange move given how important he was last season. His Premier League goal record may not be great, but letting him leave on loan was still a strange move.

They could still be the worst team in Premier League history as they currently have a point fewer than Derby from the 2007/08 season.
