The game of football has seen many left-footers light up the game over the years and a lot of them are right up there among the greatest to play the game.

But they are a rare species as the majority of footballers are right footed like the majority of people in general are right handed.

That is because everyone is born differently as they all have different abilities and genetics which makes them more suited to certain roles in life.

Despite there being more right-footed players, there have still been a great number of left-footed players and a lot of them have been among the best players to play the game and especially during the modern era.

The players on the list are among them and without further ordo, here is the list:

Mohamed Salah

Arjen Robben

Erling Haaland

Lionel Messi

Roberto Carlos

David Silva

Gareth Bale

Robin Van Persie

Raul

Marcelo

  1. Gareth Bale

Bale had a dangerous left foot on his day as he could deliver quality balls into the box and take powerful shots from distance.

He always put a lot of power behind his shots that they were difficult for any keeper to keep out and his deliveries into the box were so good that defenders would struggle to block them.

He scored some incredible goals with that left foot during his prime years and variety of them as well including his incredible solo run in the 2014 Copa del Rey final against Barcelona and his bicycle kick in the 2018 Champions League final.

I feel that his career deserves more respect because he won everything on offer at Real Madrid and was a key part of most of the success he achieved there.

But I had to have him down in tenth because he did have a lot of injuries and his time at Real Madrid didn't end as well as he hoped as he found himself out of favour towards the end of his time there.

  1. Arjen Robben

Robben had a left foot that very few defenders could deal with as he was incredibly skilful, could cut inside to take shots at goal and also hit perfect and accurate crosses into the box.

He was a handful for any defender on his day because of his pace as well as his dribbling ability and ability to cut inside and take shots at goal.

Bayern Munich was the club where he began to live up to his potential as he added more goals and assists to his game and the numbers he produced made him one of the best widemen in Europe.

He did have a lot of injuries throughout his career and had he not had those injuries, he might've been higher up this list.

  1. Robin Van Persie

Van Persie had a lethal left foot when he was in his prime as whatever he touched usually ended up in the back of the net.

He always put plenty of power behind his shots with that left foot of this and his shots were hit with so much power that very few keepers could keep the ball out of the net.

He was arguably the best striker in the world on his day because of the amount and variety of goals he could score and especially with his left foot.

He was certainly that player towards the end of his time at Arsenal and his early days at Man United and it was around that time where he was the best striker in Europe.

  1. Erling Haaland

Haaland will probably be a lot higher in this list in a few years time because of the world class striker he has become and the records he's bound to break.

He has scored almost every kind of goal with that left foot of his including strikes along the ground, volleys and strikes into the top corner from outside the box.

His goal record since he first emerged is simply incredible because of the drive and desire he has to score goals and both are among the reasons why he's the world class finisher we know him as today.

He's beginning to become more than goal scorer as he's started adding assists to his game and by doing so he's turning into a more complete forward.

  1. David Silva

Silva had a wand of a left foot as he could do pretty much anything with it including beat players with both agility and a bit of skill and play incredible passes from pretty much anywhere on the pitch.

He was a joy to watch whenever you watched him because of the things he could do with his left foot and he made the game look easy.

He took Man City onto another level when he arrived there by adding star quality to their team which turned them into a side that could compete near the top of the Premier League.

He played an instrumental role in every success he achieved at City through his creativity, vision and ability to make things happen whenever he had the ball.

  1. Raul

Raul was a player who had an addiction to scoring goals right throughout his career by being able to score a variety of them and also be in the right place to score them.

His left foot was one of the best in Europe when he was in his prime as he always put plenty of power behind his shots when shooting from distance which most of the time ended up in the back of the net.

He was also good at controlling the ball because of how good his first touch was and could beat players in tight spaces as well.

He could score goals with his right foot as well as his left but the majority of his goals were scored with his left foot.

  1. Mohamed Salah

Salah has had one of the best left foots in the business over the last 7-8 seasons because of the goals he has scored and the kind of goals he's scored as well.

He has scored a variety of great goals with that left foot of his since he's been at Liverpool including strikes from outside the box, solo efforts and chipped shots.

As well as scores goals, he's also used his left foot to beat players in one v one situations due to his dribbling abilities, get crosses into the box and cut inside before taking the shot at goal.

His goal record at Liverpool has been simply incredible as he's taken both them and his game onto another level.

  1. Marcelo

Marcelo was the best attacking full back in Europe on his day because of his pace, energy and ability to get crosses into the box.

The crosses he delivered into the box with his left foot always reached his man because of the quality of ball he delivered and the pace he put on the ball made it difficult for defenders to keep out.

He was also a full back who was skilful as he loved to pull off the odd trick every now and again and beat players with a bit of skill as well as with pace.

  1. Roberto Carlos

Carlos had one of if not the best left foot in the game because of the quality of ball he could deliver into the box and the amount of power he put behind his shots at goal.

Very few defenders could keep out his crosses into the box because of how good his deliveries were and he also loved to take shots at goal from long distance.

His shots were struck with so much power that very few keepers could keep them out whether it was from a direct free kick or from open play.

He scored a lot of goals from free kicks with a lot of them coming from long distances and they were all struck with a lot of power so they could be difficult for any keeper to keep out.

  1. Lionel Messi

There was only one winner of this top 10 and it had to be Messi because he could do literally anything with that magical left foot of his.

He scored many wonderful goals and provided many incredible moments with his left foot when he was at Barcelona and he's still doing the same at Inter Miami.

The consistency he has shown right throughout his career has been incredible because of his determination and desire to stay at the top for so many year.

For me he's the greatest player to play the game because he has done things that very few players can do and I don't think we'll ever see another player like him.
