World Cup 2022 Final Preview

PROBABLE LINES UPS FOR BOTH TEAMS

These two sides were involved in a very entertaining game when they met at the last World Cup with France winning 4-3 in the last 16. Many people will be hoping for a similar kind of game again in this one.

Argentina will be desperate to win this game and especially Lionel Messi with this game likely to be his last in international football and the World Cup itself. It would be a good ending to his international career if he won the World Cup and he's someone who deserves it given the career he's had and the player he's been.

Lionel Scaloni's side have got better as the tournament has progressed ever since losing their opening game to Saudi Arabia. They have had the odd wobble in defence but other than that they've looked decent in every department and have also been excellent both in and out of possession.

France will be the first team to win back to back World Cup's since Brazil during the last 50s and early 60s if they win this final where a lot of people will see them as the favourites. Their will have the experience of having done it before and they also have more individual quality than Argentina do despite them having Messi.

I would worry about them defensively though as they've kept just one clean sheet and are likely to be without Raphael Varane and Ibrahima Konate for this final through illness. They've changed their backline on a number of occasions at this tournament and they did have some nervy moments in their semi final win over Morocco. They'll need to be much better in that department if they're to win this game and especially when they're up against a player like Messi.

PREDICTION: 3-2

There will definitely be goals in this game as both sides have some very good attacking players and can be got at defensively. I'm backing Argentina to win this final simply because I think a moment of magic from Messi will decide the game. With France not looking at all solid defensively, I can see Lionel Scaloni's side make the most of that with the quality of Messi and their other forwards.
